Turkcell TV

2014
Cross platform TV operating system
My role: UX director / lead creative.

The brief

Create an intelligent operating system for an on-demand and live TV service that can work across web, app and TV screens.

The insight

People expect full accessibility with todays TV services. They don’t want to be restricted with live TV anymore than they are with on-demand.

The outcome

A best-in-class TV operating system that seemlessly marries live and on-demand streams. A system that is as easy to use via a standard TV remote as it is on a web or tablet, working effortlessly on all platforms.

Consistent and robust. In order for the UI to flex across TV, laptop, tablet and mobile, it needed to be able to handle a large range of fontsizes, hit areas and navigation techniques.

On-demand

The system detects which actors and directors you’re interested in, allowing you to set listening triggers, pushing recommendations to the next level.

Live TV

Access any channel up to 24hrs in the past at any time. The interface understands your intentions, hiding and revealing contextually intelligent UI and information.

Connecting the ecosystem

To promote the power of the Turkcell ecosystem, we ensured the service worked consistently across all device types and touch points.

We gave the Turkcell messaging app the ability to record TV remotely via a simple text message.

The taste profile also synced automatically with the Turkcell streaming music service.
